Retro Cocktail Recipe : Singapore Sling

Posted Meagan Kyla Hendrickson Cocktails

The Singapore Sling is a classic cocktail that has a different recipe no matter where I have looked, so this recipe comes from Mr. Booze who is one of my favorite cocktail resources. The Singapore Sling was invented in Singapore by bartender Ngiam Tong Goon in 1915 for the Raffles Hotel, little did Mr. Goon know that his cocktail creation would live on as a classic for almost 100 years. If you like gin and you like a drink that's a little sweet, you'll enjoy this refreshing treat!

Ingredients:

1 1/2 oz. Gin

2 oz. Sweet and Sour Mix (see note below)

1/2 oz. Grenadine

2 tsp. Cherry brandy

Club Soda

*Note-you can use store bought sweet and sour mix or you can make your own. Recipe can be found here.

Method:

Add all ingredients except the cherry brandy and club soda to an ice-filled cocktail shaker. Shake well and strain into a ice-filled glass or Tiki mug and top with club soda and then "float" the cherry brandy on top. Grab a straw and enjoy!

Cheers!

XOXO-Meagan Kyla
