We always have a big bag of little clemetines in our house, so I was wondering if there was something I could whip up in cocktail form, so after some Google searching I came across the Clementine Cocktail. When I read that this recipe included fresh clemetine juice, I busted out the trusty muddler and rolled up my sleeves. Time for some fresh juice a-squeezing!
I wasn't too sure on how to get "fresh squeezed" clemetine juice out of these tiny little fruit's, so I decided to muddle pieces of the clemetine in order to get the two ounces of juice that the recipe needs. It took me six whole clemetines to get all the juice and I recommend standing back from the muddling process as you don't want citrus juice in the eyeball. Ouch!
The Clemetine Cocktail ingredients include:
2 oz. Vodka
2 oz. Clementine fresh squeezed (or muddled!) juice
1 oz. Simple syrup
Clemetine segments for garnish
Method:
In an ice filled cocktail shaker, add vodka, clementine juice and simple syrup. Shake until the cocktail shaker has a frosty coating on the outside. Rim the glass with the clementine peel and strain into the ice filled glass. Garnish with a clementine segment and enjoy.
I liked the cocktail, but it was a little too sweet for my taste. In my next cocktail preparation I will cut the simple syrup in half so I can taste more of the clementine juice.
Cheers!
