bobbing for apples

Halloween is almost here! Costumes have been planned out, candy has been purchased and now it's time for a party! Whether you're attending a Halloween shindig or having one of your own, don't forget about the party games. Sometimes old school retro games are the best (and often messy and fun) and it's fun to experience some nostalgia as everyone is a kid on Halloween!

Apple Bobbing: The most traditional of Halloween games for all ages. Take a large container or tub of water filled four to six inches from the top rim (to prevent the water from sloshing out) and several apples. You need at least two guests willing to get their faces wet in a race to catch the bobbing apples.

Halloween Mystery "Feel" Boxes: Porch.com gives you great instructions on how to make your own mystery boxes which the object of the game is to fill the boxes with various "gross" things, have a feel and try to guess what it is! I have personally participated in this game and my imagination ran wild! Hahaha, gross!

Pin the Tail on the Black Cat: Hang up a large picture of a black Halloween cat without its tail. Give each guest a tail with a piece of sticky tape on its base. One by one, blindfold the guests, turn them around, and then set them off toward the cat picture and see where they put the tail. The guest who gets the tail closest to its rightful place wins. (This can be a great adult game when Halloween cocktails are involved!)

Share Ghost Stories: Whether you believe in ghosts or not, it's fun to have a little frightful fun by sharing stories of ghosts and goblins. Here is a cool website that has stories or these creepy accounts, that you can read aloud to your guests or have everyone take turns. Light some candles, dim the lights and let your imagination guide you into another world.

Do you have a favorite Halloween party game?
