Elderflower liqueur is made from elderflower's which are small, white starry flowers that bloom through the spring and summer. The flower is delicate and tends to lose its fragrance when processed. Elderflower liqueur has a sweet, fruity aroma with subtle hints of wine and floral notes.
St. Germain
Another name for the Elderflower Cocktail is the 'St. Germain Cocktail', as the most well known elderflower liqueur brand is St. Germain. According to their website it is a "liqueur created in the artisanal French manner from freshly hand-picked elderflower blossoms." Actually now owned by Bacardi Ltd, it is still produced in an artisanal manner, with flowers that are handpicked and processed quickly.
