1970s Lilly Floral Pants
Here's a rare pair of Lilly Pulitzer men's pants from the early 1970s. Who's Lilly you might ask? Lilly Pulitzer started making her famous dresses in 1960. She and her dressmaker designed the original little cotton print shift dress to hide the stains she acquired working in her Palm Beach, Florida fruit juice stand. Before long, people were asking about the dress, so Pulitzer began selling the dresses at the stand. She got a tremendous boost when the first lady, Jackie Kennedy, was pictured in Life magazine wearing a Lilly Pulitzer dress. By 1961 she had a lot more orders for her “Lilly” dresses than for juice, so she closed the stand and opened Lilly Pulitzer, Inc. Her dresses were brightly colored and often whimsical prints that usually incorporated her name, “Lilly,” somewhere in the design. Her clothes proliferated nationally throughout the 1960s and 1970s. The menswear line was discontinued, then brought back in 2017. This bright yellow and green floral print is typical of her style and even has her signature name in the print! They feature a snap and zipper closure front, two hip pockets and two back pockets. These are in excellent condition and the inside tag reads, "Lilly Pulitzer Mens Stuff Palm Beach, 65% cotton, 35% polyester". These pants measure waist 33in, hips 44in, inseam 30.5in, rise 12in.This is an authentic one of a kind vintage piece in wearable condition, that has been cleaned and repaired (if necessary).
