Cats Like Us visits New Orleans : Day 2
Posted Lifestyle
Julie Ann Davis
Our 2nd day (part 1 here) in NOLA was a little cooler, but warm in the sun. One thing we quickly learned is how close everything is in the Quarter. We had no trouble walking to most everything we wanted to do in plenty of time. Good morning! We started with a wonderful food recommendation from our friends – Cafe Beignet!  Wondering what a beignet is dear northerners? Well it's like fried dough and is the size of a donut. Yum!  VooDoo and Cemeteries Since it was a bit cool we started out doing indoor touristy things and...
Cats Like Us visits New Orleans : Day 3

Our 3nd day in New Orleans (read part 1 - part 2) included some obligatory sightseeing, Mardi Gras floats, and more tiki fun! Cafe Du Monde Everyone said we had to go to Cafe du Monde, one of the original and most well known cafes in the area, so we did. We were also told that it isn't that great, you just have to go. That was pretty accurate (spoiler: beignets at Cafe Beignet are better!) They really only sell coffee and beignets. I do not drink coffee, and I wanted a hot tea, but they didn't have tea, so...
The Cats of Cats Like Us

We get calls weekly from people a little confused about the name of our store. (I suppose we can’t blame people too much since “cats” is in the name). And to clarify if you were wondering, we do not sell cats or kittens, nor do we board them, and please don’t surrender your cats to us. But we do LOVE cats. You could call us cat people. You may be wondering how just two people can run a successful on-line store and full brick and mortar boutique. Well the truth is that there are several helpers behind the scenes!...

Monster Matt Monday: What Classic TV Shows Do Monsters Watch?
Posted Lifestyle
Meagan Kyla Hendrickson
Ghoul Mourning Maniacs! A bunch of us Monster types had a retro TV watching marathon. We focused on the fifties, the atomic age. By the time we finished watching and snacking, I had ATOMIC ACHE! Ugh. We found shows like..... Father Knows BEAST! Dracula was fond of a show called. BATS Masterson! The Zombies and the Body Snatchers really liked BRAINS & BRAWN! The Mutants and Aliens liked The CRAWLING EYES have It! The HORROR fans (all of us) liked Four SCAR Playhouse! There was a show about a ghoulish Norwegian family called I DISMEMBER Mama! What do you call...

Here is part 3 of our blue bathroom re-do. Please do read the other parts here: Part 1 Part 2. It probably took as long to do the little stuff as the big stuff! If you've been following along, then join us on the home stretch! The Sink Area We now had a nice refinished sink top but nothing to put it in... Â Here is the old console (and toilet.) Notice the huge space on the left of the console sink.... Â We decided to slavage the 60-70s era console by filling in the detail, repainting it, and replacing...

We are always so excited and happy to have our in-store events that not only bring in awesome talent, but gather people around to support local artisian's. We had the pleasure of having Leslie Andrews hang out with us in May to share her kitschy plates along with her laugh-out-loud framed cat butt art and her infectious laughter. We asked Leslie about Warning and what inspires her creative process. Â Â How did you start making these hilariously awesome plates? I've had a passion for plates since discovering the ones done by Fornasetti. I saw some one had made their...
The Magical Musical Little Black Dress
Andrew Davis
The little black dress went to Chopin and Schumann, with accents of pink and heels of black. Â Then classical guitar at a garden party, beyond the mansion in the back. Â It took me to stomp out some country, with boots of red and a jacket of blue. Â It was there with me in San Diego, at No Doubt with Blink 182. Â It hung with cool cats of big band, elegant and retro. Â Then a festival with flowers in my hair, dancing in the meadow. Â Add a cardigan and tutu, for Lowest of the Low....
