Retro Cocktail Recipe : Hot Toddy

Posted Meagan Kyla Hendrickson Cocktails

If you're looking for a warm drink with a kick, a Hot Toddy is just the trick! I have to admit I've been drinking a lot of Hot Toddy's as the winter in the Buffalo has been fierce with lots of snow and freezing temperatures. Brrrrr! This super easy drink can be made a variety of ways including; using bourbon instead of whiskey, rum, or tequila if you're feeling extra saucy (or want to get extra sauced), but this recipe is for the traditional Scottish way of prepartion. I never knew that the term 'toddy' was believed to come from India, devired from their toddy drink which is produced by the fermenting the sap of trees. Very interesting!

Do you have a variation on how you like to make a Hot Toddy?

Ingredients:

2 oz. Whiskey (or more, teehee!)

Hot water

1 tbsp. Honey

1/2 lemon, juiced

Method:

Mix whiskey, honey and lemon juice in a mug and add the hot water to taste. I like to stir my Hot Toddy with a cinnamon stick.

Cheers!

XOXO-Meagan Kyla
