1960s Victorian Mourning Dress
Are you goth? Maybe you like the Victorian style? Perhaps you enjoy 1960s fashion? This is a beautiful vintage dress just for you! It's fit and flare with a high ruffle collar and bow, faux buttons down the front, puff shoulders, long sleeves, and a center back zipper. It's in excellent vintage condition, missing snaps at the wrist, minor armpit discoloration on right. It's labeled "Shannon Rogers for Jerry Silverman". The label Shannon Rodgers for Jerry Silverman was established in 1959. Rodgers had previously designed for the movies, and later worked with Silverman at Martini, a dress company that did adaptations of Paris designs. Rodgers and Silverman continued this practice in their designs, and were known for their Americanized versions of Balenciaga designs. They did simple, but elegant dresses, often with a single decoration to add interest. They closed around 1978. In 1983, they donated their large clothing collection to Kent State University, where it formed the basis of their Museum’s collection of historical fashion. Feels like heavy taffeta. The Bust measures 34" Waist 26", Hip full. This is an authentic one of a kind vintage piece in wearable condition, that has been cleaned and repaired (if necessary). Flaws will be noted, but please ask any questions you may have as this is a FINAL SALE garment and cannot be returned. All items are measured flat the same way we measure our reproduction items. The maximum measurement is listed. Most vintage fabrics do no have stretch, so please take into consideration when looking at size.
