Retro Cocktail Recipe : Nervous Breakdown

I have to admit I'm on the verge of a 'nervous breakdown' due to the horrid winter we've been having in Buffalo, NY, so this drink seems to reflect my poopy attitude. Though there are a few cocktails named the Nervous Breakdown, this one is my favorite! This drink is made with Chambord, a French black raspberry liquor.

Nervous Breakdown

1 1/2 oz. vodka

1/2 oz. Chambord

Splash of cranberry juice

Club soda or sparkling water

Combine vodka, Chambord, cranberry juice in a collins glass filled with ice. Fill with soda and garnish with a orange slice.

About the liquor

The story, according to the Chambord website, goes like this: In 1685 King Louis XIV visited Château Chambord (France), where he enjoyed a marvelous raspberry liqueur. This inspired the spirit that today is known as Chambord Liqueur Royale de France! I didn't say it was a long story, but it is a delicious one!
