Well polka dot my heart! We're so crazy about that popular retro motif....named polka dots! I think we all know the gal who adorned herself in iconic polka dot dresses on the "I Love Lucy" show, Mrs. Lucille Ball herself. Her darling polka dot shirt dresses where to die for!
Since we're going polka dot crazy, let's talk about how those dots can be a neutral and check out some different styling ideas.
A little charcoal grey and white polka dot 40s style dress always looks great paired with a solid black sweater that is adorned with cherries. I mean, cherries and polka dots together are always a wonderful retro combination!
How about bringing out the polka dot of a novelty print dress and pairing it with a bold polka dot sweater.
Polka dot on top of polka dot! Are you nuts?!
Give a contrasting polka dot ensemble a try, like the white and black polka dot sweater tied over a black with white polka dot wiggle dress. Add some bold accessories and voila!

Or you could button up the sweater and cinch in your waist with an elastic waist belt in a bold color.
A bold polka dot top in turquoise mixed with a leopard print may sound odd, but it looks so cute! Since both leopard and polka dots can act as neutrals and depending on the size of each pattern, they can compliment each other rather nicely, especially when broken up with a belt.
Turquoise polka dots paired with a pink kitty novelty print skirt is just so very modern retro and kitschy! Pink and turquoise go together for a stand-out outfit, so pairing these pieces with solid black shoes and accessories is just the ticket!
Wow that was a lot of fun, I hope I inspired you to go forth and experiment with polka dots! Have fun!
